Old Pro Sports is an entity which dedicates and devotes time to the former NFL Players who have fallen on “hard” times. Although the game of Professional Football has changed financial where money is the sole goal for many, former NFL Players are rarely used in any type of marketing scheme. The fact is they have been blatantly overlooked and have been “treated” unjustly. Recently, the Supreme Court “awarded the sum of 28.9 million dollars to the Retired Players Union for damages resulting from the game “Madden Football”. The group which produces the game was not paying any royalties to the former players whose images and likenesses appeared throughout. ”Producers” of the game were “blurring” the facial images of the former players so that today’s players would receive more monies from the game. It was a great win for the former players to receive the 28.9 million from the lawsuit.
The point here is the former NFL Players are still marketable and should be treated fairly in that respect. That is why Old Pro Sports continues to present opportunities for the retirees. Since 1997 when I emceed at the Deacon Jones Hall of Fame Golf Tournament in Orlando, Florida, to my most recent Ace Cacchiotti Celebrity Golf Tournament in Moorestown, New Jersey, I have presented the former players with an opportunity to be part of something special. Each time a player who appeared at one of my functions that I produced was compensated with corresponding highlights of their career(s) and of course with a financial stipend. A “contribution” to the charity Fourth and Goal has been made from some of the proceeds of these past events and will continue to be made in future endeavors. Fourth and Goal is a nonprofit organization dedicated to those former players in medical and financial duress. |
